University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow is a public research university located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1451, it is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's four ancient universities.

The University of Glasgow was founded by a Papal Bull issued by Pope Nicholas V in 1451 at the request of King James II, making it the second oldest university in Scotland and the fourth oldest in the English-speaking world. The university initially located in the city's High Street, it relocated to its current site on Gilmorehill in the West End in 1870.
Campus[edit | edit source]
The main campus of the University of Glasgow is located in the city's West End, encompassing a variety of buildings designed in the Gothic revival style. The university also has secondary campuses in Dumfries and Singapore.
Academics[edit | edit source]
The University of Glasgow is divided into four colleges: the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences; the College of Science and Engineering; the College of Arts; and the College of Social Sciences. Each college is further divided into a number of schools.

The University of Glasgow is renowned for its research contributions in various fields, including medicine, engineering, and the humanities. It is a member of the Russell Group, which represents 24 leading UK universities committed to maintaining the highest research and teaching standards.
Notable Alumni[edit | edit source]
The University of Glasgow has produced a number of notable alumni, including economist Adam Smith, engineer James Watt, and seven Nobel laureates.
