University of KwaZulu-Natal

University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is a public university located in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was formed on January 1, 2004, as a result of the merger between the University of Natal and the University of Durban-Westville. History

The University of KwaZulu-Natal combines the rich histories of two previous universities: the University of Natal and the University of Durban-Westville. The University of Durban-Westville was established in the 1960s as a university for Indian students under the apartheid regime. The merger that created UKZN aimed to unify and transform higher education in the region, promoting access, equity, and redress in line with South Africa's post-apartheid vision.
