The University of Miami (UM) is a private research university in Coral Gables, Florida. Founded in 1925, the university is known for its diverse academic programs, vibrant campus life, and strong athletic teams.

The University of Miami was chartered in 1925 during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The university was established by a group of citizens who believed that a local university would benefit the growing community.
