University of Montana (UM) is a public university located in Missoula, Montana, United States. It is the flagship campus of the Montana University System. Established in 1893, the university is a focal point for education, research, and cultural events in Montana.

The University of Montana was founded in 1893, five years before Montana achieved statehood. Over the years, UM has grown from a single building situated on 40 acres of land to a sprawling campus that plays a significant role in the educational, cultural, and economic life of the region.

The main campus is nestled at the base of Mount Sentinel along the Clark Fork River and is known for its picturesque setting. It is home to iconic structures such as the University Hall, originally the only building on campus, and the Montana Grizzly bear statue, a symbol of the university's athletic teams.
