The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) is a public university system in Puerto Rico. It is the largest and oldest university system in Puerto Rico, with 11 campuses and approximately 58,000 students and 5,300 faculty members. The university system offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees in a wide range of fields.

The University of Puerto Rico was founded in 1903, initially as a small teacher-training school in Fajardo. In 1908, it was moved to Río Piedras, where it became the first campus of the university system. Over the years, the university expanded to include additional campuses across the island.
