University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila) is a public research university located in Ermita, Manila, Philippines. It is one of the eight constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System, the national university system of the country. Established on December 1, 1908, as the Philippine Medical School and later integrated into the University of the Philippines System in 1910, UP Manila is the oldest of the university system's constituent universities. It is known for its commitment to excellence in health sciences education, research, and public service.
