Urge (drink)[edit | edit source]

Urge is a citrus flavored soft drink produced by Coca-Cola Company. It was first introduced in Norway in 1996 as a test product. The drink was later launched in the United States under the name Surge in 1997.

History[edit | edit source]

Urge was the basis for the more widely known Surge, which was marketed in the United States from 1997 to 2003. The beverage was heavily marketed as a competitor to PepsiCo's Mountain Dew. After its discontinuation, fans of the drink started a campaign to bring Surge back, which resulted in the re-release of the drink in 2014.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

The main ingredients of Urge are carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, natural flavors, sodium benzoate, and yellow 5. The drink is known for its distinctive, tart citrus flavor.

Variants[edit | edit source]

There have been several variants of Urge, including Urge Intense, Urge Sugarfree, and Urge Energy. Each variant has its own unique flavor profile and ingredients list.

Availability[edit | edit source]

Urge is primarily available in Norway, but it has also been sold in Denmark and Sweden. In the United States, the drink is sold under the name Surge.
