Van, Turkey
Van is a city in eastern Turkey, located in the eastern part of the country near the border with Iran. It is the administrative center of the Van Province and is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Van. The city has a rich history and is known for its unique cultural heritage, including the medieval Van Castle and the ancient Armenian church of Akdamar Island.

Van has a long and complex history, with human habitation in the area dating back to at least the 5th millennium BC. The city was an important center of the Urartu kingdom in the 1st millennium BC, and later became part of the Armenian Kingdom and the Persian Empire. In the Middle Ages, Van was a major city in the Kingdom of Armenia, and later fell under Ottoman control in the 16th century.
