Vincent Schiavelli (November 10, 1948 – December 26, 2005) was an American character actor known for his work in film, television, and theatre. With his distinctive appearance and deep, resonant voice, Schiavelli became a recognizable figure in a variety of roles that showcased his versatility and acting prowess.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Sicilian immigrants, Schiavelli was interested in acting from a young age. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School before pursuing his passion for the arts at New York University, where he earned a degree in drama.

Schiavelli's acting career spanned over three decades, during which he appeared in more than 150 film and television roles. He made his film debut in the 1971 Miloš Forman film Taking Off, beginning a long-standing collaboration with the director that included roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and Amadeus (1984). Schiavelli's unique look and talent for portraying eccentric characters made him a sought-after character actor in Hollywood.

He is perhaps best remembered for his role as the melancholy subway ghost in Ghost (1990), a performance that showcased his ability to blend humor and pathos. Other notable film appearances include Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and Death to Smoochy (2002).

On television, Schiavelli guest-starred in numerous shows, including The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. His distinctive voice also made him a valuable voice actor in animated series and video games.
