WJLA-TV is a television station in Washington, D.C., affiliated with the ABC network. It is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, a major telecommunications conglomerate in the United States. The station broadcasts on digital channel 7 and virtual channel 7.

WJLA-TV first signed on the air on October 3, 1947, as WTVW. It was the first television station in Washington, D.C., to broadcast in color. In 1953, the station changed its call letters to WJLA-TV to reflect the initials of its then-owner, John L. Alberts.
In 1977, the station was acquired by Allbritton Communications, which owned it until 2014 when it was sold to the Sinclair Broadcast Group. Under Sinclair's ownership, WJLA-TV has expanded its news programming and digital presence.

WJLA-TV broadcasts a variety of programming, including local news, weather, sports, and entertainment. As an ABC affiliate, it airs the network's full schedule of programming, including popular shows such as Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and Grey's Anatomy.
The station is known for its comprehensive local news coverage, with several hours of news programming each day. It also produces special reports and investigative journalism pieces.
