Walt Anderson is an American football official in the National Football League (NFL). He has been an NFL official since the 1996 NFL season and has served as a referee since the 2003 NFL season. Anderson is known for his extensive experience and leadership in officiating.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Walt Anderson was born on September 29, 1952, in Bryan, Texas. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he played as a placekicker for the university's football team. Anderson graduated with a degree in dentistry and later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Officiating Career[edit | edit source]

Anderson began his officiating career in high school football in Texas. He quickly moved up the ranks, officiating college football games in the Southland Conference and the Big 12 Conference. His performance in college football earned him a position in the NFL.

NFL Career[edit | edit source]

Walt Anderson joined the NFL as a line judge in 1996. He was promoted to the position of referee in 2003. Throughout his career, Anderson has officiated numerous high-profile games, including playoff games and the Super Bowl.
