Walter Sharpe was born on July 18, 1986, in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, where he began to gain attention for his basketball skills.

College Career[edit | edit source]

Walter Sharpe started his college basketball career at Mississippi State University. During his freshman year, he played in 18 games and averaged 2.4 points per game. After his freshman year, Sharpe transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he played for the UAB Blazers.

UAB Blazers[edit | edit source]

At UAB, Sharpe became a key player for the team. In the 2007-2008 season, he averaged 14.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. His performance on the court helped the Blazers achieve a successful season.

Professional Career[edit | edit source]

Walter Sharpe declared for the NBA Draft in 2008. He was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 32nd overall pick in the second round of the draft. However, his rights were traded to the Detroit Pistons.

Detroit Pistons[edit | edit source]

Sharpe signed with the Detroit Pistons and played for them during the 2008-2009 NBA season. He appeared in 8 games, averaging 1.0 points per game.

Other Teams[edit | edit source]

After his stint with the Pistons, Sharpe was traded to the Denver Nuggets, but he did not play a game for them. He later played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League.

Walter Sharpe has been open about his struggles with narcolepsy, a condition that affected his basketball career. Despite these challenges, he has continued to pursue his passion for the sport.
