Waste

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Waste or trash refers to any substance or material that is discarded after primary use or is deemed worthless, defective, or of no use. Waste materials can be solid, liquid, gaseous, or even hazardous and are generally categorized based on their source of generation - municipal, industrial, agricultural, and so forth.

Types of Waste[edit | edit source]

Waste can be classified into several types based on their source and nature. Some of the common types of waste include:

  • Municipal Solid Waste (MSW): Also known as trash or garbage, this includes everyday items discarded by the public, such as food scraps, paper, bottles, etc.
  • Industrial Waste: This includes waste generated from industries, factories, mills, and mines.
  • Hazardous Waste: These are wastes that are dangerous or potentially harmful to our health or the environment.
  • Biodegradable Waste: This type of waste can be decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms.
  • Non-biodegradable Waste: These are materials that cannot be broken down by living organisms and thus remain in the environment for a long time.

Waste Management[edit | edit source]

Waste Management is the process of treating solid wastes and offers a variety of solutions for recycling items that don't belong to trash. It is about how garbage can be used as a valuable resource. Waste management is something that each and every household and business owner in the world needs.
