West (brewery)
WEST Brewery[edit | edit source]
WEST Brewery is a brewing company based in Glasgow, Scotland. It was founded in 2006 by Petra Wetzel and Gordon Airlie. The brewery is known for its German-style lagers, which are brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, a German beer purity law dating back to 1516.
History[edit | edit source]
WEST Brewery was established in 2006 in the Templeton Building on Glasgow Green. The founders, Petra Wetzel and Gordon Airlie, were inspired by German brewing traditions and aimed to create lagers and beers that adhered to the Reinheitsgebot. The brewery was the first in the UK to produce all of its beers in accordance with this law.

WEST Brewery produces a range of beers, including lagers, wheat beers, and seasonal specials. Some of their most popular beers include:
- St. Mungo: A Bavarian-style Helles lager.
