The Western Sugar Cooperative is an American agricultural marketing cooperative that processes sugar beet into refined sugar. It was established in 2002 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The cooperative is owned by approximately 850 sugar beet growers in the United States.

The Western Sugar Cooperative was formed in 2002 when the growers purchased the assets of the Western Sugar Company. The cooperative has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century when the original company was established.
Operations[edit | edit source]
The Western Sugar Cooperative operates six sugar beet processing plants located in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The cooperative processes approximately 10 million tons of sugar beet annually, producing about 1 million tons of refined sugar.

The cooperative's main product is granulated sugar, which is sold under the brand name "Great Western Sugar". Other products include liquid sugar, powdered sugar, and industrial-grade sugar.

The Western Sugar Cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected by the member growers. The Board sets the cooperative's policies and oversees its operations.

Membership in the Western Sugar Cooperative is open to all sugar beet growers in the cooperative's operating area. Members are required to deliver all their sugar beet to the cooperative and in return, they receive a share of the cooperative's profits.
