Criteria for Featured Articles on WikiMD[edit | edit source]

A Featured Article on WikiMD is a hallmark of excellence. It represents a piece that stands out for its depth, organization, and articulation, serving as a testament to the highest standards of our community. Want to understand more about the characteristics of a featured article? Dive into what makes an article 'featured'.

Nominating an Article[edit | edit source]

Any member of the WikiMD community can bring forward an article for the esteemed 'Featured' status.

  • If you're proposing an article that you've contributed to or edited, please declare it clearly by indicating a self-nomination.
  • Every nomination and subsequent comment should be signed and dated for transparency. Use "~~~~" for this purpose.
  • Once you've put forward an article, it's a good practice to notify the wider readership. You can do this by adding {{msg:fac}} on the article's discussion page, which will display this notification.

Evaluation Process[edit | edit source]

We urge every member to thoroughly review nominated articles before casting their support or reservations. Here's how the evaluation unfolds:

  • If an article garners no opposition for a minimum duration of one week, it's eligible to be listed under Featured Articles (FA).
  • However, if there are reservations or disagreements, the community must come to a consensus.
  • If disputes remain unresolved for an extended period (around two weeks), the article may be taken off the nomination list.
  • Any member can place articles that have met the criteria into the FA category or remove articles that haven't made the cut.

Post-Approval Actions[edit | edit source]

Once an article ascends to the featured status, a few housekeeping steps ensure it's appropriately acknowledged:

  • The article's link should be prominently placed in the relevant category under FA.
  • On the article's discussion page, the nomination note should be replaced with {{msg:featured}}, which will display this badge, marking its exemplary status.

By adhering to these guidelines, we ensure a consistent, transparent, and democratic process that upholds the integrity of WikiMD's Featured Articles.
