William Edward Macklin (1860–1947) was a Canadian physician and medical missionary known for his pioneering work in China. He was instrumental in establishing the Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, which became a significant medical institution in the region.

William Edward Macklin was born in 1860 in Canada. He pursued his medical education at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with a degree in medicine. His early life was marked by a strong commitment to both his faith and his profession, which would later guide his missionary work.
