William Stone (Governor)[edit | edit source]

William Stone (1603–1660) was an English settler in Maryland, USA, who served as the third proprietary governor of the Province of Maryland from 1649 to 1655. He was the first governor to administer the colony in the name of Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore, after the latter's father George Calvert, had obtained the charter for Maryland colony from King Charles I.
