Ya'akov Tzur
Ya'akov Tzur (born 4 April 1937) is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset and held various ministerial positions. He is a member of the Israeli Labor Party.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Ya'akov Tzur was born in Tel Aviv during the British Mandate of Palestine. He completed his high school education at the Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium. Tzur later attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he studied Political Science and History.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Tzur began his political career as a member of the Israeli Labor Party. He was first elected to the Knesset in 1981. During his tenure, he served on various committees, including the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and the Finance Committee.
Ministerial Positions[edit | edit source]
Ya'akov Tzur held several ministerial positions throughout his career. He served as the Minister of Agriculture from 1984 to 1988. During his term, he focused on modernizing Israel's agricultural sector and promoting sustainable farming practices.
In 1992, Tzur was appointed as the Minister of Health. In this role, he worked on improving the healthcare system in Israel, including the expansion of medical services and the implementation of new health policies.
Later Life[edit | edit source]
After retiring from active politics, Tzur remained involved in various public and social initiatives. He has been a vocal advocate for environmental protection and has participated in numerous campaigns to raise awareness about ecological issues in Israel.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Ya'akov Tzur is married and has three children. He continues to reside in Tel Aviv.
