Yakult

Yakult is a probiotic dairy product made by fermenting a mixture of skimmed milk with a special strain of the bacterium Lactobacillus casei Shirota. It was created by Japanese scientist Minoru Shirota, who graduated from the Kyoto University School of Medicine in 1930. Today, Yakult is sold in approximately 40 countries and regions around the world, including Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.

Yakult was first sold in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1935. The name "Yakult" is derived from jahurto, an Esperanto word for "yogurt". Since then, Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., the company that manufactures Yakult, has continued to focus on improving the health and happiness of people around the world.

Yakult is produced by fermenting skimmed milk with billions of live Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain. These bacteria are proven to survive the journey through the stomach and reach the intestines alive, which is where they can provide their benefits.
