Zanjan

Zanjan is a city in northwestern Iran and the capital of Zanjan Province. It is known for its beautiful handcrafts such as knives, traditional sandals, called charoogh, and malileh, a handcraft made with silver wires. Zanjan is also known for its delicious local food, especially its Zanjan's traditional bread called nân keshmeshi, a sweet bread with raisins.

Zanjan was an important city in pre-Islamic times. The city was part of the Sassanid Empire, and later became a center of Islamic learning and culture. In the 19th century, Zanjan was the site of a major revolt against the Qajar dynasty.

Zanjan is located in a wide valley near the mountains of northwestern Iran. The city has a cold semi-arid climate with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters.

The economy of Zanjan is based on agriculture, handicrafts, and industries such as cement production and copper mining. The city is also a regional hub for trade and commerce.

Zanjan is known for its rich cultural heritage. The city is home to several historical and cultural sites, including the Zanjan Bazaar, the Soltaniyeh Dome, and the Rakhtshooy Khaneh Edifice.

Zanjan is home to several universities and higher education institutions, including the Zanjan University, Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, and Islamic Azad University of Zanjan.
