Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol
Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as Δ10-THC, Delta-10-THC, or simply Delta-10) is a cannabinoid found in cannabis. It is one of the many cannabinoids that can be extracted from the cannabis plant.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol is a isomer of Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), the most well-known cannabinoid. The difference between these two cannabinoids lies in the location of a double bond in the chemical structure. In Δ9-THC, the double bond is on the ninth carbon chain, while in Δ10-THC, it is on the tenth carbon chain.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol, like other cannabinoids, interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system. This system is involved in a variety of physiological processes, including pain sensation, mood, and memory. Δ-10-THC binds to CB1 receptors in the brain, which are primarily responsible for mediating the psychoactive effects of cannabinoids.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol are similar to those of other cannabinoids, but it is less potent than Δ9-THC. Users report feelings of relaxation, euphoria, and increased sensory perception. However, Δ-10-THC is also associated with some negative effects, such as anxiety, paranoia, and short-term memory impairment.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of Δ-10-Tetrahydrocannabinol varies by country and state. In some jurisdictions, it is classified as a Schedule I drug, while in others it is legal for medical or recreational use.
