2β-Propanoyl-3β-(4-tolyl)-tropane

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

2β-Propanoyl-3β-(4-tolyl)-tropane (WF-23) is a cocaine analogue. It is a potent stimulant and a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI).

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

2β-Propanoyl-3β-(4-tolyl)-tropane, also known as WF-23, is a synthetic analogue of cocaine. It has a similar structure to cocaine, but with a toluene ring replacing the benzoyl group. This modification results in a compound with increased potency and duration of action compared to cocaine.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

WF-23 acts as a potent SNDRI, inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. This results in increased concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the brain, leading to increased stimulation and euphoria. The exact mechanism of action of WF-23 is not fully understood, but it is believed to bind to the transporter proteins responsible for the reuptake of these neurotransmitters, preventing their removal from the synaptic cleft.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of WF-23 are similar to those of cocaine, but are more potent and longer-lasting. These effects include increased alertness, euphoria, increased heart rate and blood pressure, and potential for addiction. Due to its potency and long duration of action, WF-23 has a high potential for abuse and addiction.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

WF-23 is a controlled substance in many countries due to its similarity to cocaine and its potential for abuse and addiction. In the United States, it is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
