The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Ales Bialiatski, the Memorial organization, and the Center for Civil Liberties for their efforts to promote peace and human rights in the face of authoritarianism and conflict. The award was announced by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on October 7, 2022, and the prize was presented in Oslo, Norway.

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes established by the will of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, in 1895. The Peace Prize is awarded annually to individuals or organizations that have "done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Ales Bialiatski[edit | edit source]

Ales Bialiatski is a prominent human rights advocate from Belarus.
