4-MeO-MiPT

4-MeO-MiPT is a psychedelic and hallucinogenic drug that belongs to the tryptamine class. It is also known as 4-Methoxy-N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine. This compound is relatively unknown in the scientific and academic communities, and its effects, both short-term and long-term, are not well-documented.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

4-MeO-MiPT is a synthetic compound of the tryptamine class. Tryptamines are a broad family of compounds, and include well-known substances such as psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, and DMT, found in ayahuasca. The chemical structure of 4-MeO-MiPT is similar to that of other tryptamines, with a core structure consisting of a bicyclic indole heterocycle attached at R3 to an amino group via an ethyl side chain. However, 4-MeO-MiPT is substituted at R4 of its indole heterocycle with a methoxy (MeO) functional group CH3O−. It also contains a methyl group and an isopropyl chain bound to the terminal amine RN of its tryptamine backbone.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The pharmacological mechanisms of action for 4-MeO-MiPT are not fully understood. However, like other tryptamines, it is thought to act primarily as a serotonin receptor agonist. This means it binds to and activates the serotonin receptors in the brain, which can lead to a range of effects including altered perception, mood changes, and hallucinations.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 4-MeO-MiPT can vary greatly depending on the dose, the individual's physiology, and the context in which it is used. Some reported effects include visual and auditory hallucinations, euphoria, increased introspection, and altered perception of time. However, it can also cause negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and physical discomfort.

Legality[edit | edit source]

The legality of 4-MeO-MiPT varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess and use. It is always important to be aware of the legal status of any substance in your location before deciding to use it.
