7-Keto-DHEA acetate
7-Keto-DHEA acetate is a prohormone produced by metabolism of the prohormone Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). 7-Keto-DHEA acetate is often used in dietary supplements, with claims that it can enhance weight loss and improve athletic performance. However, these claims are not universally accepted in the scientific community.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
7-Keto-DHEA acetate is a steroid and is structurally similar to DHEA. However, unlike DHEA, 7-Keto-DHEA acetate is not converted to androgenic or estrogenic hormones. This is due to the fact that the 7-Keto group is not a target for the enzymes that metabolize DHEA into these hormones.
Uses[edit | edit source]
7-Keto-DHEA acetate is often used in dietary supplements, with claims that it can enhance weight loss and improve athletic performance. Some studies have suggested that 7-Keto-DHEA acetate may increase metabolic rate and aid in fat loss. However, these claims are not universally accepted in the scientific community, and more research is needed to confirm these effects.
Safety[edit | edit source]
The safety of 7-Keto-DHEA acetate is not fully understood. Some studies have suggested that it may have a similar safety profile to DHEA, but more research is needed to confirm this. As with all dietary supplements, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.
