History[edit | edit source]
ABB Grain was founded in 1939 as the Australian Barley Board, primarily to handle the marketing of barley. Over the years, the company expanded its operations to include other grains and agricultural products. In 1999, the Australian Barley Board was privatized and became ABB Grain Ltd.
In 2009, ABB Grain merged with Viterra, a Canadian agribusiness company, to form one of the largest grain handling and marketing companies in the world.
Operations[edit | edit source]
ABB Grain's operations included the storage, handling, and marketing of various grains such as wheat, barley, canola, and sorghum. The company operated a network of grain storage facilities and provided services to farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural industry.
Merger with Viterra[edit | edit source]
In 2009, ABB Grain merged with Viterra, a move that significantly expanded the company's global reach and capabilities. The merger was seen as a strategic move to enhance the competitiveness of both companies in the global agribusiness market.
