Asbestos-containing materials

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

(Redirected from ACM)

Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) are materials which consist of more that 1% asbestos. They are considered hazardous, and can potentially cause disease and health issues. These materials are potentially dangerous when in dust form, when they can stick to the lungs, leading to breathing difficulties and lung cancer. They are popular in construction and for insulation due to their fire-resistant characteristics. Asbestos can be found in fireproofing, linoleum, roofing materials, ceiling tiles, wall and ceiling plaster, mastic and floor tile, troweled plaster, boiler or piping insulation, gasket material, transite shingles, among others.
