ADS amphibious rifle

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

ADS amphibious rifle is a unique firearm designed and manufactured by the Russian Federation. It is specifically engineered for use by combat divers and other military personnel operating in or around water. The ADS amphibious rifle is one of the few firearms in the world that can be fired underwater, making it a significant advancement in military technology.

Design and Features[edit | edit source]

The ADS amphibious rifle is a bullpup design, meaning the gun's action and magazine are located behind the trigger. This design allows for a shorter overall weapon length without sacrificing barrel length. The rifle uses a gas-operated, rotating bolt system similar to the AK-74, ensuring reliability in harsh conditions.

The ADS is chambered for the 5.45x39mm ammunition, specifically the MPS underwater cartridge. This specialized ammunition allows the rifle to be effective underwater, a feature not found in most firearms. The ADS can also fire standard 5.45x39mm ammunition when used above water.

The rifle is equipped with a 40mm grenade launcher for additional firepower. The launcher uses the VOG-25 family of grenades, providing the operator with a variety of lethal and non-lethal options.

Operational Use[edit | edit source]

The ADS amphibious rifle is primarily used by the Russian Naval Infantry and other specialized units within the Russian military. Its unique underwater capabilities make it an ideal weapon for amphibious warfare, coastal defense, and other maritime operations.
