Abdoulaye Soulama
Abdoulaye Soulama (29 November 1979 – 27 October 2017) was a Burkinabé professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Over the course of his career, Soulama made significant contributions to both his national team and the clubs he played for, becoming one of the most respected figures in African football.

Born in Banfora, Burkina Faso, Soulama began his football career at a young age. He initially played for local clubs in Burkina Faso, showcasing his talent as a goalkeeper. His performances at the domestic level caught the attention of scouts from larger clubs outside the country.
Club Career[edit | edit source]
Soulama's professional club career took off when he joined the Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko in 2007. At Asante Kotoko, he quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper, contributing to the team's success in the Ghana Premier League and in African club competitions. His agility, reflexes, and leadership on the field were key attributes that made him stand out.
After several successful seasons with Asante Kotoko, Soulama moved to Hearts of Oak, another top Ghanaian football club, where he continued to demonstrate his skills between the posts. Despite facing competition for the starting spot, Soulama's experience and consistency ensured he remained an integral part of the team.

Soulama was also a stalwart for the Burkina Faso national football team, earning over 40 caps since his debut in 1997.
