Accelerated hydrogen peroxide
Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide (AHP) is a patented formulation of hydrogen peroxide that is accelerated to increase its germicidal potency and cleaning performance. AHP is a synergistic blend of commonly used, safe ingredients that when combined with low levels of hydrogen peroxide dramatically increase its germicidal potency and cleaning performance.
Composition[edit | edit source]
Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide consists of hydrogen peroxide, surface acting agents (surfactants), inert ingredients and chelating agents. The surfactants and chelating agents are added to the hydrogen peroxide to increase its cleaning and germicidal efficacy.
Mechanism of Action[edit | edit source]
The mechanism of action of AHP is based on its ability to target key cell structures and mechanisms of microorganisms. The hydrogen peroxide component of AHP is a well-documented biocide, capable of killing a wide range of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. The surfactants and chelating agents in AHP enhance the germicidal activity of hydrogen peroxide by facilitating the disruption of cell membranes and the denaturation of proteins, leading to cell death.
Applications[edit | edit source]
Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide is used in a variety of settings due to its superior disinfectant and cleaning properties. It is commonly used in healthcare settings for the disinfection of hard surfaces and medical devices. It is also used in the food industry for sanitizing food contact surfaces and utensils. In addition, AHP is used in the animal health industry for the disinfection of animal housing and equipment.
Safety[edit | edit source]
Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide is considered safe for humans and the environment. It breaks down into water and oxygen, leaving no harmful residues. It is non-toxic, non-irritating, and does not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
