Acclimatization (neurons)

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Acclimatization refers to the process by which an organism adjusts to changes in its environment. In the context of neurons, acclimatization refers to the ability of neural cells to adapt to changes in their environment, such as changes in temperature, light, or other stimuli. This adaptation can occur through changes in the expression of certain genes, the formation of new connections between neurons, or other mechanisms. Acclimatization is an important aspect of neural plasticity, the ability of the nervous system to adapt and change in response to its environment.
