History[edit | edit source]

Formation and Early Years (2007–2010)[edit | edit source]

Affiance was formed in 2007 by vocalist Dennis Tvrdik and guitarist Brett Wondrak. The band's name, which means "to pledge faith or allegiance," reflects the members' commitment to their music and to each other. They quickly gained a following in the local scene with their energetic live shows and the release of their debut EP, Calm Before the Storm in 2008.

Rise to Prominence (2010–2017)[edit | edit source]

In 2010, Affiance released their first full-length album, No Secret Revealed, which was well received and helped them gain a larger audience. The band's ability to blend melodic hooks with heavy riffs was particularly noted. They followed up with The Campaign in 2012, an album that featured more complex compositions and lyrical themes centered around personal and social issues.

Affiance toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, sharing stages with bands like Protest the Hero, Memphis May Fire, and I the Breather. Their reputation as a live act grew, and they became known for their tight performances and engaging stage presence.

Hiatus and Return (2017–present)[edit | edit source]

In 2017, Affiance announced a hiatus, citing the need to focus on personal lives and other interests. However, in 2019, the band announced a reunion show and subsequently confirmed they were working on new music. The return was welcomed by fans, eager to see the band back in action.

Musical Style and Influences[edit | edit source]

Affiance's music combines the intensity of metalcore with melodic guitar work and powerful vocals. Influences range from classic heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest to contemporary metalcore acts such as Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. The band's sound is characterized by high-energy riffs, intricate drumming, and the distinctive voice of Dennis Tvrdik.
