Alan B. Slifka

Alan B. Slifka was born on September 13, 1929, in Manhattan, New York City. He grew up in a Jewish family and attended local schools in the area. Slifka went on to pursue higher education at Columbia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Career[edit | edit source]
After completing his education, Slifka began his career in finance. He worked at L.F. Rothschild & Co., a prominent investment banking firm, where he gained significant experience in the industry. In 1981, Slifka co-founded Halcyon Asset Management, a hedge fund that focused on distressed securities and special situations. Under his leadership, Halcyon became a successful and respected firm in the financial sector.
Philanthropy[edit | edit source]
Alan B. Slifka was deeply committed to philanthropy and social causes. He was particularly passionate about promoting coexistence and understanding between different cultural and religious groups. In 1989, he founded The Abraham Fund Initiatives, an organization dedicated to advancing coexistence and equality among Israel's Jewish and Arab citizens.
