Alberico Di Cecco
Alberico Di Cecco (born 27 July 1974) is an Italian long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. He was born in Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy.
Career[edit | edit source]
Di Cecco's first major international competition was the 1996 World Half Marathon Championships, where he finished 59th. He improved significantly over the next few years, finishing 8th at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics in the 10,000 metres event.
In 2003, Di Cecco won the Rome Marathon with a time of 2:08:02, a personal best. This victory established him as one of Italy's top marathon runners. He represented Italy in the marathon at the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing in 6th place.
Di Cecco continued to compete at a high level in the following years, finishing 2nd at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics in the marathon and winning the 2006 European Athletics Championships in the same event.

Di Cecco's personal best times are 2:08:02 in the marathon, set at the 2003 Rome Marathon, and 27:48.06 in the 10,000 metres, set at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics.
