Alison Margaret Arngrim (born January 18, 1952) is an American actress and author. She is best known for her portrayal of Nellie Oleson on the NBC television series Little House on the Prairie.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Arngrim was born in New York City, New York. She is the daughter of Thor Arngrim, a Canadian actor and manager, and Norma MacMillan, a Canadian voice actress. She has one brother, Stefan Arngrim, who is also an actor.
Career[edit | edit source]
Little House on the Prairie[edit | edit source]
Arngrim began her acting career at a young age. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Nellie Oleson in the television series Little House on the Prairie, which aired from 1974 to 1982. Her character was known for being a spoiled and mean-spirited girl, which made her one of the most memorable characters on the show.
Post-Little House Career[edit | edit source]
After Little House on the Prairie, Arngrim continued to work in television, film, and theater. She has appeared in various television series and movies. In addition to acting, she has also worked as a stand-up comedian.

Arngrim is also an accomplished author. She wrote a memoir titled Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated, which was published in 2010. The book details her experiences on the set of Little House on the Prairie and her life after the show.

Arngrim is an advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and child abuse prevention. She has been involved with various organizations and has spoken publicly about her own experiences with abuse.
