Anaka General Hospital

Anaka General Hospital is a public hospital located in Anaka, a town in the Nwoya District of Northern Uganda. The hospital is administered by the Uganda Ministry of Health and serves as a referral facility for the health centers in the district.

Anaka General Hospital was established in the early 1960s, during the post-colonial period of Uganda's history. The hospital was initially a small health center, but it has grown over the years to become a major healthcare provider in the region.

The hospital offers a range of services including general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. It also provides HIV/AIDS treatment and counseling services, as well as malaria prevention and treatment programs.

Infrastructure[edit | edit source]

The hospital infrastructure includes an outpatient department, inpatient wards, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and an operating theatre. The hospital also has a maternity ward and a pediatric ward.

The staff at Anaka General Hospital includes doctors, nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, and pharmacists. The hospital also employs non-medical staff such as administrators, cleaners, and security personnel.

Like many public hospitals in Uganda, Anaka General Hospital faces several challenges. These include inadequate funding, shortage of medical supplies, and a high patient-to-doctor ratio.
