André the Giant (born André René Roussimoff; May 19, 1946 – January 27, 1993) was a French professional wrestler and actor. He was known for his enormous size and strength, standing over 7 feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds. André gained worldwide fame for his wrestling career and his role in the film The Princess Bride.

André the Giant was born on May 19, 1946, in Grenoble, France. He suffered from acromegaly, a condition that resulted in his large size. Despite his condition, André excelled in sports, particularly in wrestling.

Wrestling Career[edit | edit source]

André began his wrestling career in France before moving to the United States to compete in various wrestling promotions, including WWE (then known as WWF). He became a fan favorite and was known for his iconic matches against wrestlers like Hulk Hogan.

Acting Career[edit | edit source]

In addition to his wrestling career, André also pursued acting. He is best known for his role as Fezzik in the classic film The Princess Bride. His performance in the movie endeared him to a new generation of fans.
