In 1920, they established the Liberty Orchards Company in Cashmere, Washington. The company initially focused on producing apple-based candies, using locally grown apples from the surrounding orchards. The name "Aplets" was chosen to reflect the primary ingredient of the candy.

The success of Aplets candies led Tertsagian and Balaban to expand their product line. In 1928, they introduced "Cotlets," a similar candy made with apricots and walnuts. The name "Cotlets" was derived from the Armenian word "kot," meaning "piece."

Production Process
