Ashwin Vasan
American physician and public health official
Ashwin Vasan is an American physician, epidemiologist, and public health official known for his work in public health policy and administration. He is the current Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Ashwin Vasan was born in New York City, where he developed an early interest in public health and medicine. He attended Harvard University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences. Following his undergraduate studies, Vasan pursued a medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Vasan furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His academic pursuits were driven by a desire to address health disparities and improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
