The Avengers are a fictional team of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team made its debut in The Avengers #1, created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. The Avengers are known for their battle cry, "Avengers Assemble!" and have been featured in various media adaptations, including television series, films, and video games.

Publication History[edit | edit source]

The Avengers first appeared in The Avengers #1, published in September 1963. The original team consisted of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, and Hulk. Captain America was discovered trapped in ice in issue #4 and joined the team after being revived.

Fictional Team Biography[edit | edit source]

The Avengers were formed when Loki manipulated the Hulk into a destructive rampage, which led to the formation of the team to stop him. Over the years, the roster has changed significantly, with many heroes joining and leaving the team. Notable members have included Black Widow, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Black Panther.

The team's headquarters is the Avengers Mansion, a townhouse located at 890 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. The mansion was provided by Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, and is maintained by Jarvis, the team's loyal butler.
