The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society was established in 1920, shortly after the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. It was formed to provide medical care and assistance to those affected by the turmoil and instability in the region during and after World War I. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services and scope of activities to include disaster response, health and social programs, blood donation drives, and educational campaigns on health and safety.

The society operates under the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
International Cooperation[edit | edit source]
As a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society collaborates with other national societies, the ICRC, and the IFRC in international humanitarian missions. This cooperation extends to participating in global initiatives, disaster response efforts, and sharing best practices in humanitarian aid.
