BC Children's Hospital Foundation

BC Children's Hospital Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The foundation is dedicated to raising funds to support BC Children's Hospital, BC's only full-service acute care hospital and health centre dedicated exclusively to the care of children.

The BC Children's Hospital Foundation was established in 1982 with the aim of raising funds to support the BC Children's Hospital. Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $200 million to support research, education, and patient care at the hospital.

Fundraising[edit | edit source]

The foundation raises funds through a variety of initiatives, including annual fundraising events, corporate partnerships, and individual donations. One of the foundation's most successful fundraising events is the annual Miracle Weekend, a two-day telethon broadcast on Global BC that has raised over $61 million since its inception in 1988.

Research and Education[edit | edit source]

Funds raised by the BC Children's Hospital Foundation are used to support a wide range of research and education initiatives at the hospital. This includes funding for the Child & Family Research Institute, which conducts research into childhood diseases and disorders, and the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, which focuses on improving the health of children and youth.

In addition to supporting research and education, the foundation also provides funding for patient care at the hospital. This includes funding for specialized medical equipment, patient and family support services, and capital projects such as the construction of the new Teck Acute Care Centre, which opened in 2017.
