BRD2

BRD2 is a gene that encodes the bromodomain-containing protein 2. This protein is involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. The BRD2 gene is located on chromosome 6 in humans.

Function[edit | edit source]

The BRD2 protein contains bromodomains, which are protein modules that recognize acetylated lysine residues on histone proteins. By binding to acetylated histones, BRD2 can regulate gene expression by influencing chromatin structure.

Role in Disease[edit | edit source]

Mutations in the BRD2 gene have been associated with certain diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders. Dysregulation of BRD2 expression can lead to abnormal cell growth and differentiation, contributing to the development of cancer. In neurological disorders, alterations in BRD2 function may affect neuronal development and function.
