Bad Axe is a city located in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Huron County and is situated in the Thumb region of the Lower Peninsula. The city covers a total area of 2.93 square miles, all land, and as of the 2010 census, it had a population of 3,129.

History[edit | edit source]

The city was named after a Bad Axe Massacre site in South Dakota. The name was given by the surveyors who were working in the area and found a damaged axe at the site. The city was incorporated in 1905.
