Balducci's
Balducci's is a specialty gourmet food retailer in the United States, known for offering high-quality, artisanal, and gourmet food products. The company operates several stores primarily in the northeastern region of the United States.
History[edit | edit source]
Balducci's was founded in 1916 by Louis Balducci, an Italian immigrant, in Brooklyn, New York City. The original store was a small fruit and vegetable stand. Over the years, the business expanded and became known for its high-quality produce and specialty items. In the 1970s, Balducci's opened a flagship store in Greenwich Village, which became a landmark for food enthusiasts.
Products and Services[edit | edit source]
Balducci's offers a wide range of products, including fresh produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, baked goods, and prepared foods. The stores also feature a variety of imported and domestic gourmet items, such as olive oils, vinegars, pastas, and chocolates. In addition to retail sales, Balducci's provides catering services for events and special occasions.

Ownership[edit | edit source]
Balducci's has undergone several ownership changes over the years. In 1999, the company was sold to Sutton Place Gourmet, which later rebranded its stores under the Balducci's name. In 2009, Balducci's was acquired by Kings Food Markets, a subsidiary of the private equity firm Angelo, Gordon & Co. In 2021, Balducci's and Kings Food Markets were acquired by Albertsons Companies.
