Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village often referred to by locals as simply "the Village" is a neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. It is known for its bohemian and artistic culture, and has been a significant center for movements that have shaped the history and culture of the United States.

History

Greenwich Village was once a rural hamlet, separate from the growing city of New York.
