Barbara Krause (born 7 July 1959) is a former East German swimmer who competed in the 1970s and early 1980s. She is best known for her performances at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Barbara Krause was born in East Berlin, East Germany. She began swimming at a young age and quickly showed promise in the sport. She joined the SC Dynamo Berlin club, where she trained under the guidance of top coaches.

Swimming Career[edit | edit source]

Krause's international debut came at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where she competed in several events. However, her most notable achievements came at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, where she won three gold medals in the 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, and the 4x100 meter freestyle relay.
