- Barry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 59,173. The county seat is Hastings. The county was set off in 1829 and organized in 1839. It is named for William T. Barry, Postmaster General under President Andrew Jackson, making it one of Michigan's Cabinet counties.
