Bay Terrace is a neighborhood located in the northeastern part of Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City. It is bounded by the East River to the north and the neighborhood of Bayside to the west and south. Bay Terrace is known for its quiet, suburban-like environment and its diverse community.

Bay Terrace was originally a part of the larger Bayside neighborhood. In the early 20th century, it was primarily farmland until the real estate boom of the 1920s. The area was developed into a residential neighborhood with the construction of several housing developments and apartment complexes. The neighborhood was officially named "Bay Terrace" in 1953, due to its geographical location overlooking the East River.

Bay Terrace is located in the northeastern part of Queens. It is surrounded by the East River to the north, the neighborhood of Bayside to the west and south, and the neighborhood of Whitestone to the east. The area is characterized by its hilly terrain and its proximity to several parks, including Fort Totten Park and Little Bay Park.

Bay Terrace is known for its diverse community. The neighborhood is home to a large number of families, with a significant population of Asian Americans, particularly those of Korean and Chinese descent. There is also a sizable population of Jewish Americans and Italian Americans.

Bay Terrace is served by the New York City Department of Education. The neighborhood is home to several public and private schools, including P.S. 169 Bay Terrace, M.S. 294 Bell Academy, and the Bay Terrace Jewish Center.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Bay Terrace is served by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The neighborhood is accessible via several bus routes, including the Q13, Q16, Q28, and QM2. The nearest subway station is the Flushing – Main Street station, which is served by the 7 train.

Several notable people have resided in Bay Terrace, including actress Fran Drescher, comedian Ray Romano, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
